Artifact Availability
AI Experiment Log (AIEL) records the retention status and publication status of Raw Data, Source Code, and similar Artifacts as Artifact Availability. Retention and publication are treated as separate axes.
Artifact Availability describes the retention and publication state of Artifacts. It applies to a different target from Evidence State, which describes the evidential standing of individual recorded information, and Experiment Status, which describes the lifecycle state of the Experiment as a whole.
On public Experiment pages, Artifact Availability is used primarily for the Raw Data and Source Code fields in record metadata.
Retention status

PARTIAL | Only part of the Artifact set needed for complete reconstruction is retained |
NOT_RETAINED | The relevant Artifact is confirmed not to be retained |
UNKNOWN | The current record does not establish retention status |
NOT_APPLICABLE | That Artifact class is not applicable to the Experiment |
Placeholders and empty data files are not treated as experimental data that were acquired and retained.
Publication status

NO_PUBLIC_REFERENCE | No reader-facing public Artifact reference is recorded; this state alone does not establish whether an internal copy exists |
NOT_APPLICABLE | Publication status is not applicable |
No public reference does not mean not retained. An Artifact may still be retained internally even when no reader-facing public Artifact reference is recorded.

Public pages combine retention and publication status into the following controlled labels.

For example, if complete execution logs are missing but some logs or records remain and there is no public Artifact reference, the page displays Partially retained · no public reference. If a household time series is retained but intentionally not published, it displays Retained · not public. If retention itself cannot be established and no public reference exists, it displays Retention unknown · no public reference.
Classification principle
Artifact Availability does not infer a stronger state than the preserved Evidence supports. When a more specific retention or publication condition is established, that specific state is used.
